Bambi Concept Drawing Original Art (Walt Disney, 1942). Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs may be Walt Disney's masterpiece but Bambi was his favorite film. Many consider Bambi to be the impetus for what people now see as "environmental films". In this lot is an exceptional piece of animation concept art. Concept art is developed through several iterations. Multiple solutions are explored before settling on the final design. This piece shows Bambi and his mother in the forest. The artwork was rendered in graphite on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The art is in a frame of 19.5" x 18.5" with a glass front and mat opening of 11.5" x 9.75". The term "concept art" was used by the Walt Disney Animation Studios as early as the 1930s by the animators and story development team. Bambi's story development team boasts some of the best talent in Hollywood at the time. This included the likes of George Stallings, Mel Shaw, and Carl Fallberg. Concept art from a major motion picture is arguable rare and hard-to-find and this one is a real find! Frame sold as-is. Condition is Very Good.Auction Info
