Bambi Concept Art by Tyrus Wong (Walt Disney, 1942). It was lead artist Tyrus Wong's (1910 - 2016) lush pastels that served as the inspiration for Bambi and his background paintings on the film were inspired by Song Dynasty classical Chinese paintings. His enormous influence on the look and feel of Bambi is detailed in the book Bambi, The Story and the Film by Disney Legends Frank Thomas (1912 - 2004) and Ollie Johnson (1912 - 2004). This delicate charcoal concept drawing of a forest scene with a tiny herd of deer is the work of this gifted Disney artist. It measures 6.5" x 5" on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. There are additional stray pencil lines and light sketching along the bottom border. The piece is floated in an 18" x 20" frame with a mat opening of 10.5" x 12". It shows some minor handling wear, folds and edge wear; otherwise, condition is Very Good.

More Information: Art is attributed to Tyrus Wong
