Description

Babes in Toyland Rare Trio of Layout/Concept Drawings by Disney Legend Ken O'Connor (Walt Disney, 1961). The 1961 film Babes in Toyland started off as an animated film in 1955 with Bill Walsh as producer and Sidney Miller as director. After filming was delayed, the film switched to live-action and was released on 12/14/1961. Disney Legend Ken O'Connor (1908 - 1998) was involved with special art styling on the film and this trio of original 16 field layout/concept drawings were created by his hand for the film. One of the layouts was likely created for Barnaby's rundown home while the other pair were created for Mr. Toymaker, surrounded by toys, papers, and a framed photograph of Santa Claus in both concepts. The mixed media layouts were likely created for the earlier version of the film before it was decided to make the change to live-action and are full of personality, detail, and charm. They range from nearly the entire page at 15.5'' x 11.5'' to 11.75'' x 6.75'' with one rendered on 15.5'' x 12.5'' board. We haven't seen early work from the film before, so if you've been looking for the opportunity now is the chance to add them to your collection! Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, faint toning, and some minor debris/smudging.
