Description

Aladdin Jafar Character Development Study by Disney Legend Andreas Deja (Walt Disney, 1992). The Sultan's cunning royal vizier Jafar is brought to life here with a 16 field page of character development studies. The page was created by Disney Legend Andreas Deja, Jafar's supervising animator and supervising animator for characters like Gaston, Scar, Lilo, and Hercules. Deja also helped to design the character and the two graphite with color pencil expressions in this lot explore a bit of a different look for the villain with more angular eyebrows that add to his sharp, evil design. These eyebrows weren't kept in the final design but are a great example of the different ways Deja and the rest of the team working on Jafar played with various aspects of his design, personality, and palette to get to the finalized version that we love to hate in the Disney Renaissance film. The drawings are about 13'' x 9.75'' combined on the page and are in Very Good condition with pinholes, light handling, and minor edge creasing.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
