Winnie the Pooh Tigger and Piglet Original Concept Art by Paul Wenzel (Walt Disney, c.1990s).
Winnie the Pooh lives in the Hundred Acre Wood with his friends Tigger and Piglet. Pooh is stuffed with fluff so his seams burst open on occasion, but Pooh has become so accustomed to this that he can tie it back together in seconds. On April 11, 2006, Pooh received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, being the 4th Disney character to receive one. In this lot we have a fantastic original piece of concept book art by Paul Wenzel. The artwork features the honey loving bear and his friends Tigger, or as Tigger often says when he introduces himself, T-I-double-guh-err", along with the lovable Piglet. Wenzel is best known for creating illustrations for movie posters and retail merchandise for The Walt Disney Company. Paul first began at Disney in 1958, working for the studio for 42 years, creating thousands of illustrations for movies and consumer products. Wenzel worked on over 100 movie posters during his tenure as a designer/illustrator for the Motion Picture Advertising Department. This original concept piece by Paul Wenzel was rendered in gouache on 17" x 12" board with a line overlay cel giving the piece that "Winnie the Pooh look." The artwork is signed by the artist. Fine condition.
