    Description

Virgil Ross - Sylvester "Model Sheet" Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "I tawt i taw a putty tat" was the phrase coined by Tweety Bird, often to describe the arrival of Sylvester the Cat -- Tweety's arch-rival. This model sheet-style drawing shows multiple poses and expressions for Sylvester, and was created by longtime Warner Brothers animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996), who was well-known for his action and dance sequences, and funny facial expressions. He worked on more than 230 cartoons with the Friz Freleng unit. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. This signed artwork is on 16 field 3-peghole animation paper. There are seven images, rendered in graphite with blue pencil underdrawing, ranging in size from 3" to 7". There is a small fold at the left lower corner not involving the image, otherwise Fine condition.
