Description

The Sword in the Stone Sir Ector and Merlin's Steam Engine Pair of Color Model Cels (Walt Disney, 1963). Here's a pair of color model cels from Disney's The Sword in the Stone; one featuring Sir Ector and the other featuring Merlin's steam engine. In visual arts, a color model is a studio document used to help standardize the appearance of a character with respect to color of the character, props or environment. The document is used by other artists as well as ink and paint as a reference tool to help maintain continuity. At the center of the cel stands Sir Ector at 11", a formidable knight and foster father to Arthur (Wart). The steam engine measures 4.5" x 5.5". Both model cels are hand-painted on 16 field acetate. The Sir Ector cel contains a production stamp in the top right. The Sword and the Stone color model cel is a cherished and captivating glimpse into the artistry that brought this enchanting story to life, reminding us of the enduring charm and artistry of this Disney's masterpiece. The Sir Ector cel is a two-cel setup. Both pieces are presented in Good condition with some paint cracking and chipping on Sir Ector.
