Description
The Ren & Stimpy Show "Blazing Entrails," "Ren's Pecs," and "Ren's Retirement" Background Color Key Painting Group of 3 (Nickelodeon, 1993/94). Sunny yellow home interiors are on full display in this rare and lively trio of original background color key paintings each from different Season Three and Four episodes of Nickelodeon's The Ren and Stimpy Show. Rendered in a smaller scale, color key paintings like these establish the look and feel for the full-size backgrounds that will be used in an animated project. Each of these miniature paintings has been rendered by hand in gouache on background boards trimmed to approximately 6.5" x 5.5" with image areas ranging from 5.75" x 4.75" to 6.75" x 4.75", and include production codes for their associated episode and background itself. First up from Season Four's "Blazing Entrails", Ren and Stimpy's bathroom numbered 307 can be seen early on near the 0:41 mark. Next from Season Three's "Ren's Pecs", the white cabinets numbered 304 can be spotted near 7:16; this rare color key features an OK - B.C. approval by series co-creator Bob Camp. Finally from Season Three's "Ren's Retirement", the kitchen stove and plush purple walls numbered 311 can be seen near the 16:38 timestamp. Please note paintings 307 and 311 have had their floor areas trimmed at the baseboard line and reattached with tape on their reverse sides. These paintings are attributed to background and layout artists Stephen DeStefano, Scott Wills, Bill Wray, Raymond Zibach, Vicky Jenson, Larry Murphy, Lynne Naylor, Tom McGrath, Robert Yuan, Richard Zaloudek, and Chris Reccardi, and are accompanied by a Nickelodeon CoA. With typical handling and edge wear including pinholes and some light surface wear, overall this bright and cheerful trio of miniature paintings is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
