Popeye the Sailor Olive Oyl, Popeye, and Poopdeck Pappy Character/Color Model Cel (Fleischer Studios, c. 1938). Offered in this lot is an extremely rare hand-inked and hand-painted character/color model cel featuring incredible full-figure images of Popeye with an open can of spinach, Olive Oyl, and Poopdeck Pappy (listed here as "Popeye's Poppa"). Poopdeck Pappy's first animated appearance was in the 1938 Fleischer Studios theatrical short Goonland. This highly coveted piece depicts the iconic characters at 5.25", 4.75", and 6" tall on cels mounted to a 17" x 8.5" illustration board. The piece shows minor handling and edge wear with some toning/staining on the board and paint separation on the cels. An unbelievable original character model cel, featuring the beloved classic characters in picture-perfect poses! The condition is Fair.More information about Fleischer Studios.
