Description

Pinocchio Color Model/Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1942). This rare color model cel captures the enchanting moment when Pinocchio is first seen perched on Geppetto's workbench, a pivotal scene that introduces audiences to the wooden boy's journey to becoming real. Measuring approximately 3" x 4.5" (excluding his strings) and hand-inked and hand-painted on a 6" x 8.5" acetate, this piece serves as a vital tool in animation, ensuring the character's coloration remains consistent under various lighting conditions and scenes. Originating from the private collection of Disney Legends Marc and Alice Davis, this cel holds significant historical value. Although Marc Davis, credited as Fraser Davis, had limited involvement in Pinocchio in order to focus on the challenge of developing sequences with realistic but expressive animal characters for Bambi. A treasure for astute collectors, it encapsulates the meticulous craftsmanship and artistry that define Disney animation. Despite some paint cracking, the cel's condition is Good, making it an invaluable piece for those passionate about animation history and the legacy of Walt Disney's iconic films.
From the Disney Legend Inductees Marc and Alice Davis Archive.
