Pete's Dragon Elliott with Pete and Apples Color Model Cel Setup and Ken Anderson Layout Drawings (Walt Disney, 1977). "Oh boy, those look good! I'm starved!" The "apple munching" scene where Pete climbs up and tosses apples into Elliott's mouth is a fun highlight of this classic live action/animated feature film. Here's an original 16 field color model 5-cel setup of that scene, with cut-out photo prints of young actor Sean Marshall ("Pete") and the apples on the second cel (the top cel is a clear protective overlay). The background is a matched photo print, added for presentation purposes. The setup is matted with an opening of 14" x 10", and an overall mat size of 20" x 16". There is a small crease on the white mat, but setup has very little handling wear. With the setup is a pair of rare rough layout sketches by the designer of Elliott, Disney Legend Ken Anderson (1909 - 1993), in ink on 14" x 8.5" ruled yellow legal pad pages. One page has two sketches, with an approximate overall image area of 9" x 6"; the other has a single drawing measuring 9" x 6.5". The drawings are unsigned, but verified as from Mr. Anderson by longtime Disney staffer Joe Hale, who served as a layout artist on this film. There is minor handling wear on the art, with a corner fold crease on the single drawing piece. Very Good to Fine condition.
