DescriptionPeanuts A Charlie Brown Christmas Signed Animation Drawing and Color Model Cel (Bill Melendez, 1965). This sweet initial entry in the long list of Peanuts television specials based on Charles M. Schulz's popular newspaper comic strip was first shown on 12/9/1965, and repeated every year at Christmas time. Here's a truly special framed display with two signed animation items related to the film. First, an original layout drawing from the scene where a depressed Charlie Brown visits Lucy's "Psychiatric Help" booth (where the doctor is "real in"); this scene begins at the 4:31 mark in online viewings. It's a classic image of the crestfallen Charlie Brown as he spills to faux councilor Lucy, drawn in graphite over blue pencil on 12 field animation paper, with an image area of 6.75" x 4.75". The drawing is hand-signed by director Bill Melendez (1916 – 2008). With the drawing is a great hand-inked, hand-painted color model/publicity cel made from the drawing, hand-signed in blue Sharpie by Peter Robbins, the voice of Charlie Brown in this and several other Peanuts specials. This was actually done after the special was animated, most likely made to promote the show in print ads. The two items are matted together with openings measuring 12" x 9.5" and 12" x 9", and framed using Plexiglas for an overall size of 18.5" x 26.25". Frame is sold as-is. On back of the frame are certificates of authenticity from Sopwith (for the drawing) and Linda Jones (for the cel). Fine condition.
