Mulan Color Key/Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1998). These are two superb Color Key/concept art pieces from Walt Disney's 36th animated feature film, Mulan. The film was released on 6/19/98 and tells the story of a young Chinese girl named Mulan who secretly joins the Chinese army and becomes one of China's greatest heroines. The Color Keys measure 5.75" x 3.5" and 6" x 3.5" with a cel overlay of Li Shang, the son of an army general. Color Keys are preliminary background paintings often created in miniature size that production teams use for animated features and shorts. Color Keys allow the production team to problem solve and control opportunities by giving them a chance to change a hue, or even a lighting value within a given scene and enhance the overall mood. The Color Keys were rendered in gouache on background board. The artwork is in a frame of 11" x 14" with Plexiglas. Frame sold as-is. Very Good condition. From the MacLaughlin Family Disney Collection.
