Little Hiawatha Color Model Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937). "Down the stream and through the canyon, Down the rushing Tahquamenon, Sailing through its bends and windings, sailing through its deeps and shadows, came the little Hiawatha." These are the first words spoken in the narration of the 1937 Silly Symphony about the little Native-American boy Little Hiawatha, a story Walt Disney once considered making into a feature film. Offered here is a very rare painted color model drawing of Hiawatha coming nose to nose with the little bear cub and the start of all his troubles. It's a wonderful gouache and ink rendering of the two characters who together measure 5.5" x 7" in 12 field 5-peghole paper. The key scene that inspired this and countless other promotion pieces for the Silly Symphony short can be seen at the 5:36 mark. This popular character went on to appear in his own Sunday comic strip and make appearances an comic books throughout the '40s. The paper shows handling, a considerable amount of creases, and edge wear. Condition is Good.
