Description

Lady and the Tramp RARE Color Model/Production Test Cel Featuring the Rat (Walt Disney, 1955). This original color model/test cel from Disney's classic Lady and the Tramp features the menacing rat, a pivotal antagonist in the film's dramatic climax. In this scene, Lady spots the rat attempting to infiltrate the yard and, despite her efforts, it sneaks into the house, leading to a dire confrontation with Tramp. The test cel, hand-painted on 16 field-size acetate, is used as a crucial reference tool within the animation process to ensure consistent coloration and detail under various lighting conditions and sequences. This particular cel captures the rat in vivid detail, approximately 8" in size, showcasing its sleek and sinister appearance that heightens the tension of the storyline. The color model helps other artists maintain visual continuity, guiding the ink and paint departments in replicating the exact hues and tones needed for the film's animation. Although in Good condition, the cel bears a small tear near the bottom left peghole, yet it remains a rare and significant artifact from one of Disney's beloved animations, capturing a key moment of narrative suspense and dramatic action.
