    Description

Grasshopper and the Ant Color Model Cel and Background (Walt Disney, c. 1933). This attractive set-up had us puzzled, but we now believe this to be a Color Model cel and background, done during the early stages of production for Disney's 1934 adaptation of the classic Aesop Fable's story. The final version of this character changed, but both the cel and background illustration have all the hallmarks of being from the Disney studios. The Grasshopper has an approximate image area of 4" x 4", and the background (which is composed of two separate items -- the blue sky being on a separate piece glued to the tree and mushroom houses) measures 11" x 8.5". The cel is in Excellent condition; the background a solid Fine with some fading apparent in places. Overall, this is a rare and unusual item, sure to appeal to advanced Disney collectors.
