Description
Fred and Barney Meet the Thing Benji Grimm/The Thing Color Model/Publicity Cel and Fantastic Four Studio Model Sheet (Hanna-Barbera, 1979/1967). This may take some explaining, True Believers. The Fantastic Four of Marvel Comics fame were featured in a Hanna-Barbera 1967 single-season series, airing Saturday mornings from 9/9/1967 to 9/21/1968. This series remained true to the original comic book version, but in 1979, H-B remade the Thing into a stand-alone character (that's right, no FF exists in this "world"), with episodes airing alongside The New Fred and Barney Show as a two-in-one series. In this version, gawky, red-headed teenager Benji Grimm turns into the stone-skinned superhero by touching two magic rings together and repeating the phrase "Thing Ring, do your thing!" Here's a rare hand-painted color model/publicity cel of Benji and the Thing together, on a print background; the cel has no pegholes, and measures 14" x 10.5". With the cel is a studio model sheet print of Moe Gollub and Bob Singer's 1967 design for The Fantastic Four. The cel is in Fine condition, while the model sheet is Very Good with light handling and age-related toning.Auction Info
