Fantasia "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" The Sorcerer Yen Sid Color Model (Walt Disney, 1940). The Sorcerer's Apprentice is widely recognized as Mickey Mouse's most famous role. This is a very rare hand-painted watercolor Color Model sheet of Mickey's boss... the Sorcerer Yen Sid! (Yes, Yen Sid is "Disney" spelled backwards.) Produced on a 16 field 5-peghole sheet of animation paper. It is stamped "Color Model" in the bottom left, and identified as "Sorcerer" in graphite script on the lower right. The great Yen Sid appears in this image without his iconic hat, which Mickey Mouse had borrowed and abused its power. This image is very similar to the scene where he returns and sees the chaos Mickey has created in his absence. The large image of the old sorcerer measures 11" x 8.5" and is ornately matted and Plexiglas front framed to 26.5" x 23.5". Any original artwork of Yen Sid from this segment of Fantasia is considered rare and hard to find, but a piece of this size and quality is outstanding! Slight tanning, otherwise in Fine condition.
