Bugs Bunny Gets the Boid Bugs Bunny and Beaky Buzzard Model Sheet Drawings Group of 2 (Warner Brothers, 1942). One of Bob Clampett's most beloved characters has to be Beaky Buzzard. Clearly based on Edgar Bergan's Mortimer Snerd, Beaky made his debut in this 1943 short. Presented are two original drawings created for use as model sheet elements. The first is a height comparison model between Bugs and Beaky. It is tightly rendered in graphite with red pencil and the three-character image measures approximately 8.5" x 6.5" on 12 field 2-peghole paper. With it is an earlier character development sketch of Beaky with the edition of a tuft of hair and buck teeth and likely resembled Snerd a bit too closely for the studio lawyers' comfort. It is drawn in graphite and measures 4.5" x 3.5" on 12 field 2-peghole paper. These are remarkable artifacts from the debut of one of Warner brothers great recurring characters. Both show light handling and condition is Very Good. From the Rev Chaney Archives.
