Description

Cat Napping Tom and Jerry Production Cel and Master Background Setup (MGM, 1951). Outstanding hand-inked, hand-painted production cels of Tom and Jerry, from the Bill Hanna/Joe Barbera-directed short that was released on 12/8/51. It had animation done by the great Irv Spence and Kenny Muse. Tom is from the opening sequence when he leaves the house and is headed to his hammock with a drink, radio and pillow in hand. Jerry is from the "frog on the lily pad" sequence later in the short. The cels are on a Master MGM studio hand-painted trimmed production background that works well with the cels. This was a studio gift cel. The mat is inked "To Billie, Best Wishes from Tom and Jerry." In the border is hand-lettered "An original from the MGM Cartoon 'Cat Napping' starring Tom and Jerry." Mat opening is 11" x 8". Smiling Tom is 5", while Jerry is 2". Rare Studio setup! Fine condition.
