Cat Concerto Tom and Jerry Animation Drawings Group of 5 (MGM, 1947). In this unusual Tom and Jerry short, Tom is a concert pianist performing Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody," only to disturb Jerry, who has made his home inside the piano. Here's a rare group of original 12 field animation drawings from near the end of this classic short, directed by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, and released on 4/26/1947. In this sequence, Tom has caught Jerry and has him stashed in his adjustable piano stool. In the first drawing, noted 7 in the lower right, Jerry has found an opening near the stool's adjustment knob; in online viewings, you can find it at the 5:15 mark. Next, noted as 7A, is Tom's stool as it begins to rise, at about the 5:17 mark. Noted as 11 is an image of Jerry poking out the hole a second time to mess with the adjustment knob, seen at 5:23, and less than a second later is Jerry's gleeful expression at raising Tom up high, noted as 15. Finally, noted as 27A, we have an image of Tom as he reaches into the piano (in the short, we see that Jerry is in his closed fist); see this at the 5:31 mark. Art is in graphite and red pencil, with minor blue pencil guide lines on a couple. Image sizes range from 1" x .5" to 10.75" x 7". Condition is Good to Very Good, with paper toning, handling/edge wear, and ink stains on 27A, and very minor stains along the bottom edge of 15.
