DescriptionCaptain EO Storyboards and Poster Group of 6 (Walt Disney, 1986). Offered in this lot is a RARE assortment of five early storyboard from Captain EO, the popular 3-D attraction at Disneyland. The storyboards are from the hand of Edward Eyth who also lists The Rocketeer (1991) and Back to the Future Part II (1989) in his credits. The film tells the story of Captain EO (Michael Jackson) and the ragtag crew of his spaceship on a mission to deliver a gift to "The Supreme Leader" (Anjelica Huston), who lives on a world of rotting, twisted metal and steaming vents. Captain EO is regarded as one of the first "4-D" films. 4-D is a 3-D film that incorporates in-theater effects, such as lasers, smoke, etc., synchronized to the film. These amazing storyboards are each rendered in pen and ink on 8.5" x 11" paper. A storyboard is a graphic organizer that consists of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, animated feature film or cartoon short. This is mainly used for planning the production. Things like type of camera shot, angle and blocking of characters are decided. The storyboarding process, in the form it is known today, was developed at Walt Disney Productions during the early 1930s, after several years of similar processes being in use at Walt Disney and other animation studios. The storyboards are signed and dated by the artist under the image. Included is a 19" x 28" Captain EO lithograph poster. A unique opportunity for Disney fans and MJ fans as well! Edge wear from normal production use. Overall condition is Very Good.
