Description
Bullwinkle TV Commercial Production Cel and Key Master Background (Jay Ward, 1965). "Smart surfers get their go with Cheerios!" General Mills and Cheerios began sponsoring Rocky and Bullwinkle shows in 1959. The Moose and Squirrel team appeared on the back of Cheerios boxes and were in many print and television ads. This is a rare, elusive hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Bullwinkle, on its Key Master hand-painted production background. From a 1965 Cheerios television commercial; you can find this image at the :39 second mark. In the commercial, Bullwinkle says, "Cheerios helps build up big Mooseles!" Bullwinkle, his surfboard, water, and wave are all painted on a 12 field cel; the painted area takes up 75% of the cel. The original Key Master production background is behind the cel. With the actual Bullwinkle show being animated in Mexico, extremely few 1960s production cels of our favorite Frostbite Falls characters exist; Key Master setups like this are even rarer.
