    Description

Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck Production Cel Group (Warner Brothers, c. 1950s-60s). Vintage Looney Tunes cels are very hard to find due to the fact that most of them were thrown away in the early 1960s by a short-sighted employee. This is an outstanding hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Bugs Bunny with his trademark carrot, in a great 6" image. This appears to be from a 1950s/early '60s theatrical short. The cel is hand-signed by Mel Blanc (1906-1989) as well as Looney Tunes director Bob McKimson (1910-1977). Robert McKimson's signature is considered extremely rare. The cel has cracking and dry paint in the white area, minor restoration is required. These two signatures on a cel of this quality is rare. A vintage Daffy Duck hand-inked, hand-painted production cel is also in the lot. It has the Warner Brothers Seven arts sticker under Daffy, with a great full-figure image of 5". Cracking in face and feet and legs. Minor restoration required. This is from an early 1960s short. Two vintage Looney tunes production cels in one lot! Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
