DescriptionBroken Toys Stepin Fetchit and Mammy Doll Animation Drawing Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1935). This touching Silly Symphony tells the story of a bunch of broken and discarded toys who take it upon themselves to make their own repairs -- and then offer their love to the children of an orphanage on Christmas. This is a pair of rare production drawings from this Ben Sharpsteen directed short. The first drawing is of the Mammy doll who stands 6" tall, is rendered in graphite with green pencil and numbered 21 in the lower right corner. She can be seen around the 1:44 mark. The second is a puppet based on the comedian Stepin Fetchit who measures 7" tall, rendered in graphite with red pencil and numbered 58 in the lower right corner. This image can be seen around the 6:25 mark. Both drawings are on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper, show minor handling, and Condition is Fine.
