Bambi Pre-Production Background Art (Walt Disney, 1942). Bambi wakes up one morning and sees snow for the first time; this happens around the 27:00 mark into the movie. After having fun in the snow with Thumper, he walks through a blizzard with his mother looking for food (a bit of tree bark is all they find). When the storm subsides, Bambi's mother yells at him to run -- the hunters have arrived! Here is the stream that Bambi jumps over to get away, seen around the 32:42 mark into the film. His mother didn't make it across. This is a pre-production background of the scene where Bambi's mother is shot. The background is on 12 field 5-peghole background board measuring 13.5" x 10". It was laminated, possibly as it was a major reference piece. The notes on top border read "Enlarge to 6 ½ F." Backgrounds were painted in this beautiful film by Merle T. Cox, Art Riley, Robert McIntosh, Travis Johnson, W. Richard Anthony, Stan Spohn, Ray Huffine, Ed Levitt, John Stahley, and Tyrus Wong. Minor handling and edge wear. In Good condition.
