Bambi Character Study Original Art by Claire Weeks (Walt Disney, 1942). Claire Weeks was a gifted story man and animator. He began at the Walt Disney Studios in 1936 and worked there until 1956. This is an outstanding character study of both Bambi and Thumper by the hand of Claire Weeks (1911 - 1996). In the book Walt Disney's Bambi: The Story and the Film by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, they write about Mr. Weeks and his work on this film. They said he was part of a story and development unit that worked out of the Seward Studio, and not the main studio at at the time, Hyperion. This page of art is done in pen and ink and gouache on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. There are five detailed studies of young Bambi and three pen and ink studies of Thumper. The artwork is hand-signed by Claire Weeks and dated 1940 in the bottom right corner. Minor handling and edge wear. Overall condition is Very Good.
