Babes in the Woods The Witch with Children Animation Drawings Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1932). This Burt Gillett-directed color Silly Symphony short combined several classic fairy tales in reworking the story of Hansel and Gretel. Here's a superb sequence of four original 12 field 2-peghole drawings from the short, which was first seen in theaters on 11/19/32. This sequence is from when the lost-in-the-woods brother and sister accept a ride on the witch's broom, as she comes down for a landing near her house of Gingerbread. You can see the first drawing appear in the upper left at the 3:25 mark. In the last drawing, the witch points a bony figure toward the house, dripping with gooey icing; see this in online viewings at the 3:32 mark. All four drawings are in graphite with nice detailing; we love the twirling broom end effects as they fly! The pages are numbered in the lower right corner as #6 (image size 7" x 4"), #46 (image size 8.5" x 4"); #71 (image size 9" x 4", with a notation to "finish witch"); and #92 (image size 7.75" x 4.5"). The last drawing is particularly frame-worthy, but all are great images. The first page has repositioned and reinforced pegholes, and there is some light paper toning and minor handling, but overall condition is Very Good.
