Around the World in 80 Minutes Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney/United Artists, 1931). Also known as Around the World with Douglas Fairbanks, this now-obscure film was a travelogue of sorts, following the exploits of silent action star Fairbanks on his travels through the Far East. His friend and collaborator, director Victor Fleming, accompanies him, and together, they document many local customs and curiosities. Fairbanks, and his wife, silent film superstar Mary Pickford, were great friends and devotees of Walt Disney; as such, Disney was only too happy to "loan out" Mickey Mouse himself, for a short cameo in the film. (He even had hopes to feature Pickford in some later projects!) During a scene in which Siamese dancers perform, Mickey appears and does his own rendition, with some innovative moves he's devised, combining traditional dance with swing! This very early drawing features Mickey speaking into a megaphone, and is rendered in graphite and colored pencil. He stands 3.5" high on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper. Paper has very minor handling/creasing and is in Fine condition.
