Description

Walt Disney Signed $500 Check for John Tracy Clinic (Walt Disney, 1948). Exceedingly rare Walt Disney signed bank check dated December 20, 1948, in the amount of $500, made payable to the John Tracy Clinic. Benefiting the John Tracy Center-a private, nonprofit education center in Los Angeles serving infants and preschool children with hearing loss, founded in 1942 by Louise Treadwell Tracy, wife of actor Spencer Tracy-this charitable payment reflects Disney's community ties. The check was filled out by Walt's longtime secretary Dolores Vought and boldly signed "Walter E. Disney" by the great storyteller himself. Drawn on Bank of America's Hollywood branch, the check displays Disney's instantly recognizable, loopy signature. His autograph was honed over years: Disney Legend Ub Iwerks recalled first meeting Walt in 1919, when a seventeen-year-old Walter E. Disney sat at a drawing board practicing variations of his signature, and Walt's daughter later noted he often began his distinctive flourish before the pen touched paper. PSA certified and housed in a protective sleeve, this check showcases a large, clean autograph from the master showman. In Very Good condition-a rare find. For astute collectors, a Walt Disney autograph is essential.
