Walt Disney Signed $1,725 Check for Walt Disney Special Account (Walt Disney, 1955). This is a fantastic piece of Disney memorabilia-an authentic check signed by Walter E. Disney himself, dated the year of Disneyland's monumental opening. Made out to Walt Disney Special Acct, the check is in the amount of $1,725, which today would equal approximately $19,600-$19,700 in purchasing power based on U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics CPI data. The check is dated November 1, 1955, just five months after the historic opening of Disneyland, making it a remarkable artifact from one of the most important years in Disney history. Drawn on the Bank of America, Toluca Lake Branch, the check features Walt's bold and instantly recognizable signature. Much has been written about Walt's autograph-Ub Iwerks recalled that when he first met Walt, he was practicing his signature at an artist's table. Walt's daughter also noted that he often began his distinctive, loopy autograph even before his pen touched the paper. PSA certified and housed in a protective sleeve, this check showcases a large, clean autograph from the master showman.
