Description
TRON Ram, Flynn, and Tron Ektachrome Continuous-Tone Transparency (Walt Disney, 1982). "Boy, you forget how good the power feels until you get to a pure source." Ram, Flynn, and the titular Tron stop for a brief but much need rest in this original black and white Kodalith (often referred to by TRON collectors as an Ektachrome) from Disney's groundbreaking 1982 cult classic. With the rippling water on full display, this luminous image freezes a moment of camaraderie and determination amidst the electrifying landscapes of the digital frontier. Similar to the 50:04 timestamp of the film, Ram (Dan Shor), Flynn (Jeff Bridges), and Tron (Bruce Boxleitner) can be spotted replenishing their power with a quick drink after escaping into the system during a round of "Light Cycle" though their positioning appears flipped on-screen. The film received the Academy Award® for Technical Achievement fourteen years after its initial release. To achieve the desired effect, actors and sets in TRON were initially photographed in black-and-white. This Kodalith was enlarged from 65mm B&W fine-grain film, part of the original stage photography by DP Bruce Logan. Framed enlargements were placed over a light source and re-photographed through colored camera filters. The computers at the time could not do animation, so the frames had to be produced one by one. This Kodalith measures 20" x 12.5" with an image area of 19.25" x 8.5" and includes production codes along the peghole edge. It epitomizes the essence of TRON's camaraderie and the pioneering spirit that defined a genre and serves as a visual testament to the film's iconic moments and its lasting influence on science fiction cinema. With typical handling and edge wear, overall this vital moment of respite is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
