Description

Alvin and the Chipmunks Simon, Alvin and Theodore Production Cels (Ruby-Spears, 1983). "Alvin!" Simon, Alvin, and Theodore take the stage in this pair of original hand-painted production cels from the opening title sequence of this Saturday morning series. Seen near the 0:10 to the 0:13 timestamps in the opening of every show as they belt out the theme song. The Chipmunks got their start in 1958 as a novelty record, The Chipmunk Song, by David Seville (Ross Bagdasarian Sr.) and won three Grammy Awards. A television series titled The Alvin Show soon followed and ran for one season on CBS between 1961 and 1962. In 1983, a new show produced by Ruby-Spears was introduced to Saturday morning viewers and ran for eight seasons. These 12 field cels feature all three Chipmunks in full-figure who together measure 11" x 5" for the close-up cel and 8.5" x 2.75" for the paired cel. Both pieces are displayed over print backgrounds for presentation purposes. This set is a fantastic piece of Alvin and the Chipmunks' historic production, appearing at the start of every show! With minor handling and surface debris, the pair of cels are in Very Good condition.
