Alice in Wonderland Cheshire Cat Concept Painting by Mary Blair (Walt Disney, 1951). "Lose something?" asks a smile in a tree to Alice, as she enters the Tulgey Wood. This is how Alice meets the mysterious Cheshire Cat. This great character was voiced by Sterling Holloway. Here is an impressively large Mary Blair original concept Color Key painting. The art is in gouache on illustration board measuring 21" x 9" -- a very nice Blair painting! It is said that Mrs. Blair based her Alice artwork on John Tenniel's illustrations from the original Lewis Carroll books. Blair said, of this film "Walt would not let us go completely in that direction. But we did incorporate some pure black, white, and gray details in the backgrounds." You can see those colors play out in this magnificent painting. Tack holes in the corners, with minor handling wear. Very Good condition.
