Alice in Wonderland Alice with Queen of Hearts Playing Card Guards Production Cel Setup with Master Production Background (Walt Disney, 1951). "Off with her head!" Alice's adventures in Wonderland conclude with a wild chase by the Queen's card guards after her mock trial. Here's a unique setup with elements from that ending, including the pack of Diamond cards, as seen at the 1:11:55 mark, and the painted original production background of the Royal Maze, as seen at the 1:12:08 mark. The backgrounds in this film were painted by Frank Armitage, Al Dempster, Bill Layne, Dick Anthony, Richard H. Thomas, Thelma Witmer, Walt Peregoy, Ralph Hulett, Fil Mottola, and Anthony Rizzo. It's interesting to note that the maze is one of the few designs in the film that stayed very close to Mary Blair's original concept art. The hand-inked, hand-painted Alice is seen in full figure, standing 6" on a pan cel. The cards cel has been trimmed and affixed to the Alice cel. The setup is matted with an opening of 19" x 11", and is framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 27.25" x 19.75" x 1.5". Frame is sold as-is. The background has two vertical creases, seen on either side. Good to Very Good condition.Auction Info
