Alice in Wonderland Alice Production Cel and Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1951). A rare Key Master setup from Alice in Wonderland. Here is Alice after the Mome Raths show her the path, and just before a "dog with a broom face" brushes the path away ... a fantastic scene! You will see this piece around the 53:30 time mark. Following the success of the animated Beatles' film, Yellow Submarine, Disney's version of Alice in Wonderland suddenly found itself in vogue. Because of Mary Blair's art direction and the long-standing association of Alice in Wonderland with the drug culture, the feature was re-discovered as something of a "head film" along with Fantasia among the college kids of the 1960s and was shown at various colleges across the country. The Alice cel was hand-inked and hand-painted at the world-famous Walt Disney Ink and Paint Department on 16 field acetate. The cel is paired with the Key Master background where you can see the pink path that Alice is following. The background was rendered in gouache on background board. Background artists for Alice in Wonderland include; Claude Coats, Merle Cox, Ed Starr, and Ray Huffine. Enclosed in a fabric covered matboard of 22" x 18". A must for any discerning collector of animation art. Artwork condition is Very Good.
