Akira Capsules and Clowns Production Cel Setup with Animation Drawing Group of 2 (Tokyo Movie Shinsha, 1988). Tetsuo's bosozuko gang The Capsules hunt down their rivals The Clowns in this early scene from the cult classic anime film, Akira. The futuristic motorcycles became the trademark of this hit Sci-Fi movie credited with introducing Japanese animation to the west. Presented is an original hand-painted production cel setup and animation drawing depicting Kaisuke and Yamagata as they catch up with a couple of The Clowns at the 05:32 mark. The 9.5" x 5" image of all four characters on their bikes is on a 14 field 4-cel setup over a matching print background. It's an action-packed image from the opening battle scene that kicks off the story. With it is the original drawing used to make the cel of Kaisuke and Clown in the foreground which is rendered in graphite and colored pencil. This is an incredible production setup and any art featuring motorcycles from Akira is first on the list for collectors. Certificate of Authenticity included. Minor handling and conditon is Very Good.
