Ain't She Tweet Painted Production Background with Sylvester Production Cel (Warner Brothers, 1952/c. 1940s). Sylvester tries every trick in the book to get to Tweety's cage; only problem is, Granny's fenced-in yard is full of vicious bulldogs! That's the setup for this Friz Freleng-directed short, which hit theater screens on 6/21/1953. Here's an utterly gorgeous original pan production background from the short, painted by Irv Wyner, with a rare original hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Sylvester from a 1940s-era cartoon (note: Sylvester had no white tip to his tail in the 1940s) that has been trimmed to image and applied to an overlay pan cel; it works nicely with the background. You can see a small portion of the pan background at the 2:53 mark; strangely enough, the part with Granny's house and open window with Tweety's cage is never shown. It's a great painting nonetheless, signed by background artist Irv Wyner (1904 - 2002) in the lower left corner. The setup, one of the earliest we've seen featuring Sylvester, is matted with an opening of 34" x 9", and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 43" x 18". Frame is sold as-is. Setup condition is Fine.
