Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad Cyril and Mr. Toad Production Cel Setup and Master Painted Background (Walt Disney, 1949). "Tally Ho! We're merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily on our way to... nowhere!" sings Mr. Toad and Cyril. This is an outstanding hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Mr. Toad riding on the back of his horse, Cyril Proudbottom. The cel set up has a second cel of the motor car, the first one Mr. Toad had ever seen ("It's a motor car! Gad, what have I been missing?"). The two-cel set up is on a rare 12 field Master hand-painted production-background, painted in gouache on board. It is from Sequence 4/Scene 67. Background painters on this film included Art Riley, Ray Huffine, Bruce Mack, Merle Cox, and Dick Anthony. Mr. Toad Master setups of this caliber are rare. Nice cel images of 4" and 6". Cel and background setup are matted with an opening size of 11" x 9". Very rare piece of Disney history! Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
