A Day in June Background Art Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1944). A Day in June is one of the most attractive 1940s-era shorts made by Terrytoons. The lush, detailed backgrounds used in the cartoon remind us of Disney's Fantasia. There were three background artists credited for this Eddie Donnelly-directed short: Robert Blanchard, Anderson Craig, and Bill Hilliker. Here are two beautiful hand-painted 12 field backgrounds from this cartoon, noted as Sc 21 (showing an extreme close-up of a flower with a tap and bucket to extract pollen), seen at the 3:13 mark, and Sc 30 (tree with opening and branch, where butterflies emerge, do a posed walk, and then fly off), seen at the 4:37 mark. Lovely paintings in gouache/watercolor on skimmed boards, both with Terrytoons stamps on the reverse. Very Good condition with minor handling and edge wear.
