"The Band Concert" Good Housekeeping Illustrations by Tom Wood (Walt Disney, 1935). This is the first theatrical cartoon that showcased Mickey Mouse in full color. In Jerry Beck's 50 Greatest Cartoons it is ranked #3! The short, directed by Wilfred Jackson, was released on 2/23/35. The only speaking character in the short was Donald Duck. This is the original hand-painted Good Housekeeping Disney page for this short, featured in the January, 1935 issue, a full month before the historic cartoon was released. These are the original Tom Wood gouache on board panels of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar, Dippy Dawg (Goofy), Peter Pig, and Gideon Goat (who did not appear in the short). Panels are in one common Plexiglas-front frame measuring 36" x 28". This is one of the single most important Disney Good Housekeeping pages ever offered. Fine condition.
