Description
The Moth and His Flame Model Sheet Drawing and Print Group of 2 (Warner Brothers, 1943). This Bob Clampett-directed short combined live-action with animation as a piano player sings the story of a little moth on his way to marry a honey bee. There seems to have been some debate within the studio on the preferred title for this short as it was later titled The Moth Meets His Flame and then it was changed to Eating on the Cuff with the second title presented beneath the third on the title card. This lot is a pair of rare studio items from this unique production. First is an original model sheet drawing of the primary characters in this vintage short. The five graphite images are rendered on a 12 field 2-peghole sheet of paper which bears animator Rev Chaney's initial "R" at the bottom right, indicating that he was the artist. With the original model sheet drawing is a printed studio model sheet from the same film. This is a wonderful pair of animator's reference items from a truly imaginative Clampett classic. Both pieces show light handling and the printed model sheet has been folded in half. Condition is Very Good. From the Rev Chaney Archives.Auction Info
