Plans Unveiled: Wizard World Chicago July 4th Lot Viewing Party for Dealers and Members

Dallas, TX -- As announced last week, Heritage Comics Auctions has entered into an agreement with Wizard World Chicago as their permanent official live auctioneer. As a result, HCA acquired Wizard World's entire Exhibitor and Attendee list, and have added it to their mailing and e-mail newsletter lists. For tickets to Wizard World Chicago, please go to:

HCA already has lots of exciting things planned for our first Wizard World auction, which will be spread over three sessions in conjunction with the con, this July 4th weekend. First, as most exhibitors know, after set-up on July 3rd, the 4th will be a "dead" day (no one allowed into the convention center, per union regulations). But HCA will be hosting a "Food & View Party" just for dealers, exhibitors and members. They've arranged a nearby hotel suite where you can view auction lots even while partaking of camaraderie and good eats. Heritage promises dealers and members a fun way to preview the fantastic material up for auction and to get some use out of this non-convention day.

Second, Heritage already has some terrific lots already lined up. These include:

MORE FUN 51 & 53 MILE HIGH COPIES – Two legendary books from the Edgar Church collection will be offered, including the Spectre's first appearance, and Part 2 of his origin. These are not just any Mile Highs, but key books of the highest rarity and desirability. In fact, More Fun 51 is considered one of the most underrated of the entire run, while More Fun 53 was ranked in the 2001 Overstreet as the 18th most valuable comic book! Furthermore, this More Fun 53 has never before been offered at auction. These exquisite books both display the deep rich colors, tremendous ink reflectivity and fresh white pages that make Mile Highs the pinnacle of all Golden Age comic books. Photos:

GAINES FILE BOOKS – HCA will have complete runs (all CGC graded) of Gaines File copies of WEIRD FANTASY, WEIRD SCIENCE FANTASY, INCREDIBLE SCIENCE FICTION, PANIC, TWO-FISTED TALES, and SHOCK SUSPENSTORIES. By mid-summer the hubub over the 50th Anniversary of MAD and all things EC should be at a fever pitch, and HCA is hoping to set some records with these classic runs from the legendary GF pedigree. FRANK FRAZETTA – ORIGINAL COVER ART TO GHOST RIDER #3 – Frazetta covers are highly prized by collectors, and here's a killer piece from the late '50s. This is one of Frazetta's best known comic book covers and has been privately held for over ten years. A classic image of Ghost Rider atop his trusty steed amid a fiery explosion.

Third, Heritage Comics is already actively seeking collections for outright purchase, private treaty consignment at fixed price, or for consignment to upcoming auctions such as Wizard World Chicago 2002. The minimum consignment value for this auction will be $5000 per consignment. HCA's consignment deadline for July 5-7 Wizard World Chicago Signature sale extends through May 8, 2002. However, early consignors will receive extra promotion of their material through HCA and Wizard's vast publicity machines and entire combined mailing list (which also includes the entire Greg Manning comics and movie posters client list, purchased by HCA late last year).

Those interested in consigning are invited to visit a special section on HCA's website or call John Petty at 214-252-4392 or email
