Heritage Wraps Up 2004 in Style!
|
"This sale falls on the Monday and Tuesday following Wizard World Texas," said John Petty HCA's Director of Auctions, "so we hope that many of our out-of-town friends who come to Dallas for the show will stay over a few days for the auction."
"To wrap up the year, we've got some spectacular pieces that are really going to have collectors talking. Probably the showpiece of this sale is Wally Wood and Dan Adkin's original cover art for DYNAMO #3, published by Tower Comics in 1967. Woody gave this cover to one of his assistants at the time, and it's stayed in that private collection ever since. This is the first time that this magnificent cover image has ever been offered on the open market."
"We've also got all ten pages of original art for Robert Crumb's classic story, "He's a Natural Man," from HUP #9, first published in 1989. This story, which features Flaky Foont, Mr. Natural and Cheryl Borck, the Devil Girl, is a true underground classic, and should make some lucky collector very happy."
Petty continued, "And that's not all. We'll also be offering Hy Eisman's original Astro-Boy cover from 1966's MARCH OF COMICS #285, John Byrne and Bob Layton's MARVEL TEAM-UP #72 cover, published in 1978, a rare SUGAR and SPIKE cover, penned by Sheldon Mayer in 1971, a beautiful prelim by Frank Frazetta for a painting of a barbarian warrior, and a late PEANUTS Sunday by Charles Schulz, dated 12-2-90."
