Heritage Comics to Auction Nine Exceptional and Complete EC Stories

Dallas, TX -- Up for sale in HCA’s March 15-17, 2002 auction will be at least nine complete EC stories, comprising some of the very best and most important stories by the best artists ever to work for EC or any other comics company. These pieces of original art have been off the market for many years, and include:

"BUM STEER" Art by Joe Orlando (from WEIRD SCIENCE #15)
Some of the most bizarre aliens ever to appear in any EC comic populate this blunt cautionary tale about astronauts finding themselves in an all-too-familiar situation.

"THE 10TH AT NOON" Art by Wally Wood (from WEIRD FANTASY #11)
Eerie story about a camera that can take pictures of the future has sterling work from EC mainstay Wally Wood.

"…FOR POSTERITY" Art by Wally Wood (from WEIRD SCIENCE-FANTASY #24)
In the ultimate wish-fantasy tale, two ordinary guys are kidnapped to Earth’s future, where the men have died out, and all that survives are incredibly beautiful women! Of course, the boys are asked to help repopulate the distaff society, much to their delight. This is the story Woody was born to draw, and he does a fabulous job.

"ADAPTABILITY" Art by Wally Wood (from WEIRD SCIENCE-FANTASY #27)
Survival on a raw alien planet is the theme of this tale which features page after page of those classic Wood spaceship interiors.

"THE INFERIORS" Art by Wally Wood (from WEIRD SCIENCE-FANTASY #28)
De-evolution rears its ugly head in this typically narcissistic cautionary tale; once again the legendary Wally Wood lends his pen to cool SF hardware and upright lizard-creatures.

"UPHEAVAL" Art by Al Williamson (from WEIRD SCIENCE-FANTASY #24)
Slick work from Al Williamson highlights this oddball tale about an expedition to a strange planet, and the consequences of landing upon it.

"HORROR! HEAD…IT OFF!" Art by Graham Ingels (from TALES FROM THE CRYPT #27)
Evocative period story (with terrific Graham Ingels artwork) having to do with club feet and missing heads.

"LOWER BERTH" Art by Jack Davis (from TALES FROM THE CRYPT #33)
Classic tale of twisted love as two side-show freaks (a mummy and a two-headed ogre) decide to procreate… Jack Davis’ usual lush linework brings it all to vivid life. This is the famous "Origin of the Crypt Keeper" story.

"GOOKUM!" Art by Wally Wood (from MAD #2)
Woody gets frisky in this twisted SF comedy about a goofy spaceman and the gelatinous monster he fights. A classic example of Wood’s EC humor work.
