Heritage Comics Hits The Big Apple!
Dallas, Texas: Heritage Comics Auctions (HCA) will present their latest Signature auction on May 18, 19 & 20 at the New Yorker Hotel in New York City, conveniently located at 34th Street and 8th Avenue.
"This is an exciting auction," said Ed Jaster, Director of Acquisitions for HCA. "We're all very proud of the material that's been gathered for this event, and we're looking forward to presenting it in New York City."
"There's really something here for everyone," said Jaster, "no matter what your specific area of interest. For comics fans, we've got the second part of the Northern Lights Collection, with such treasures as the Larson copy of More Fun #54, CGC-graded NM- 9.2 with white pages, the Rockford copy of Adventure #85, CGC-graded VF+ 8.5 with cream to off-white pages, and a beautiful copy of The Amazing Spider-Man #5, CGC-graded NM+ 9.6 with off-white to white pages."
"Aside from the Northern Lights books," Jaster continued, "we've got a number of high grade keys for your bidding pleasure. In this upcoming auction, you'll have a chance to bid on the White Mountain copy of Amazing Fantasy #15, which featured the origin and first appearance of Spider-Man, CGC-graded NM 9.4 with off-white to white pages, one of the highest graded copies of Sensation Comics #1, the first book to cover-feature the Amazing Amazon, Wonder Woman, CGC-graded VF+ 8.5 with off-white pages, and the Denver copy of Special Edition Comics #1, the first book totally devoted to the Big Red Cheese, the Golden Age Captain Marvel, CGC-graded NM 9.4 with cream to off-white pages."
"If you collect original comic art, you're going to be in for a treat," Jaster enthused. "We're offering a number of great pieces, including a wonderful and historic RF Outcault original featuring both Buster Brown and the Yellow Kid, the final page from the Marvel Comics #1 debut of Bill Everett's Sub-Mariner, a wonderful Bronze Age Spider-Man Annual cover by Frank 'Sin City' Miller, featuring the Punisher, the nefarious Doc Ock, and, of course, the Web-Headed Wonder, and The Flying Dutchman, a stunning original oil painting by the Duck Man himself, Carl Barks."
"In addition," Jaster added, "we're going to be presenting two very special stand-alone catalogs for two very special collections. First is the Random House Archives, a decades-deep collection of original art, file copies, publisher's samples and more from the warehouse of this great publishing house. Our first offering of this fine material includes such treasures as bound volumes of Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #1-12, Tarzan #1-12 and Four Color (Series One) #13-25. We've also got original art featuring Little Lulu by Marge Buell, Star Trek by Frank Bolle, Twilight Zone by George Wilson, and Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans, as well as more Little Golden Book art than you can shake a stick at, such as this Tibor Gergely classic, The Taxi That Hurried!"
"Last, but certainly not least," Jaster concluded, "we're proud to feature the toy and character memorabilia collection of Larry Jacobs. Larry has built probably the premiere collection of character timepieces, Disneyana and character-related collectibles, and we're proud to be able to offer this amazing collection to the public for the very first time. Highlights are much too numerous to mention here, but here's just a taste to whet your appetite: A Tom Corbett Space Cadet Wrist Watch in Box, the "Pop-Up" Buck Rogers Strange Adventures in the Spider-Ship, published by Blue Ribbon Books in 1935, a stunning copy of the Mickey Mouse Waddle Book published in 1934, and the insanely rare Donald Duck and Clara Cluck Cut-Out Book, published by Whitman in 1937."
"With all that, we've just scratched the surface of this incredible auction," Jaster said. "If you have any interest in pop culture collectibles, you don't want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime event."
