Description
Carl Barks The Stone That Turns All Metals Gold Oil Painting Original Art (1991). In this opulent masterpiece, Uncle Scrooge, Donald Duck, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie discover the alchemic Philosopher's Stone in the throne room of King Minos. Based on a scene from Carl Barks Uncle Scrooge #10 yarn, "The Fabulous Philosopher's Stone," in which the lure of an unlimited source of gold tempts Scrooge to try to find the Stone. Donald and Huey, Dewey, and Louie assist Scrooge in a quest for riches that takes the Duck clan from the Black Forest of Germany to the Middle East, and finally into the labyrinth of the bestial Minotaur on the island of Crete. This oil on board masterwork has been indexed by Barks scholars as painting #139P, and the 20" x 25" oil on masonite piece was finished by "the Old Duck Man" in his 90th year.
