Marvel Comics #1 (Timely, 1939) CGC FN 6.0 Off-white to white pages. This copy presents very, very well -- a big deal when you're talking about one of the five most valuable comics in the hobby! The front cover in particular looks absolutely outstanding. Some scuffing at the spine and rust on the staples are the only things evident from outside the slab that differentiate this book from copies we've sold for six figures, so a buyer who can grab this in the mid-five-figure range is sure to be pleased.It's also worth noting that of the six copies graded higher, none has received a higher grade than 9.0.
This is the first comic book published by Timely (aka Marvel), the most-collected publisher of all, and it features the first newsstand appearances of the Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner. Also making their comic debuts were Ka-Zar and the Angel. The cover art is by Frank R. Paul. Overstreet 2010 FN 6.0 value = $60,000. CGC census 1/11: 4 in 6.0, 6 higher.
