Description

Neal Adams Hand Colored The Savage Sword of Conan #2 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1974). Back when everyone was Conan crazy as a result of the hit paperback and comic book series featuring the brawny barbarian, Marvel's mighty magazine, The Savage Sword of Conan, was on a lot of reading lists. This breathtaking piece is sure to generate intense bidding, as it has been "off the market" in private hands for many years now. This is not a painted cover per se -- it was actually inked and colored by Neal Adams himself in the tradition of Adams' famous superhero art. It is truly an awesome illustration, with trademark Adams action in every brushstroke. It's a large signed piece, with an image area measuring approximately 18" x 24". The piece has been exposed to light, and comparing the left and right edges to the interior, some color lightening is apparent. Still, the piece has plenty of "eye appeal," and is otherwise in Very Good condition. And as before, it's likely to wind up in a private collection, with little chance of re-entering the market anytime soon. Make sure your collection becomes its next home.
