Description
Robert Crumb Morse's Funnies Cover Original Art (Albert Morse, 1974). Heav-ee!! Here's one of the most obscure covers R. Crumb has done, and it's a great one at that. Crumb's lawyer Albert Morse was the man responsible for putting a halt on many unauthorized products that infringed on the famous "Keep On Truckin'" drawing that wound up getting Crumb in such trouble with the IRS (who simply believed Crumb had to be raking in a fortune on all those posters, buttons, backpacks, etc.). When asked by Albert to provide a cover for a very limited edition comic, Crumb pulled out all the stops and created a great portrait of the larger-than-life lawyer. This is that cover, and it comes complete with a hand-cut rubylith overlay, designed to act as a second color. Of course, Albert simply printed everything in black and white, so this overlay, which gives the title logo a 3-D effect, has never been seen until now. The art is in ink and shading film on bristol, with an image area of approximately 10.5" x 13.5" (including crop marks); there is a tiny area of ink loss in the shadow under Albert's raised foot, otherwise the art is in Excellent condition.
